This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) outlines the guidelines and protocols for the efficient and safe operation of the television production studio. It ensures consistency, quality, and safety in all production activities.
2. Scope
This SOP applies to all employees, freelancers, contractors, and guests working in or using the television production studio, including producers, directors, camera operators, sound engineers, lighting technicians, editors, and on-air talent.
3. Studio Access and Security
3.1. Access Control
Only authorized personnel are permitted to enter the studio.
All visitors must check in at the reception and receive a visitor badge.
Crew and talent must wear identification badges at all times.
Access to restricted areas such as control rooms and equipment storage requires prior approval from the Studio Manager.
3.2. Security Protocols
The studio should remain locked when not in use.
Security cameras must be operational at all times.
Any security breaches must be reported immediately to the management.
4. Pre-Production Procedures
4.1. Scheduling
All productions must be scheduled in advance through the Studio Manager.
A detailed production plan, including scripts, shot lists, and crew assignments, must be submitted before studio use.
4.2. Equipment Check
All cameras, microphones, lights, video wall and control, interactive screen, vision mixer, audio mixer, playouts, laptop for zoom, character generator and other production equipment must be checked before use.
Any malfunctioning equipment must be reported to the Technical Supervisor.
Backup equipment should be available in case of failure.
4.3. Set Preparation
Sets must be designed and approved before the production date.
Props and decorations should be arranged safely to prevent accidents.
Fire exits and pathways must remain unobstructed.
5. Production Procedures
5.1. Crew Responsibilities
Director: Oversees the production and ensures creative vision is executed.
Producer: Manages logistics, budgeting, and scheduling.
Camera Operators: Operate and adjust cameras as directed.
Sound Engineer: Monitors and adjusts audio levels.
Lighting Technician: Controls lighting for optimal visual quality.
Floor Manager: Ensures smooth on-set operations and communication.
5.2. Safety Guidelines
All cables must be taped down or covered to prevent tripping hazards.
No food or drinks are allowed near equipment.
Emergency exits must remain clear at all times.
Fire extinguishers must be accessible and functional.
5.3. Live and Recorded Productions
Live Shows: A final technical rehearsal must be conducted before going live.
Recorded Productions: Footage must be reviewed after each scene to ensure quality.
6. Post-Production Procedures
6.1. Equipment Shutdown
All equipment must be powered down and properly stored after use.
Batteries should be removed and recharged.
Memory cards and storage devices must be backed up immediately.
6.2. Editing and Archiving
Editors must follow the approved editing workflow.
Raw footage should be labelled and stored in the designated archive.
Final productions must be exported in the required format and stored securely.
7. Studio Maintenance
7.1. Equipment Maintenance
Routine checks must be conducted on all equipment.
Any damaged or faulty equipment must be repaired or replaced promptly.
Calibration of cameras, microphones, and lighting equipment should be scheduled regularly.
7.2. Studio Cleanliness
The studio must be cleaned after every production.
All props and set pieces should be returned to storage.
Floors should be swept, and trash disposed of properly.
8. Emergency Procedures
8.1. Fire and Electrical Safety
Following the emergency evacuation plan and call emergency services in case of fire.
Do not use water on electrical fires; use a CO2 fire extinguisher.
8.2. Medical Emergencies
A first aid kit must be available in the studio at all times.
Any medical emergency must be reported to management immediately.
If needed, call emergency services (911 or local emergency number).
9. Compliance and Reporting
9.1. Policy Compliance
All staff and crew must adhere to this SOP.
Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action, including suspension of studio privileges.
9.2. Incident Reporting
Any accidents, injuries, or equipment failures must be reported to the Studio Manager immediately.
A written incident report must be submitted within 24 hours.
10. Review and Updates
This SOP will be reviewed every six months to ensure it remains up-to-date.
The Studio Manager and Senior Management must approve any necessary changes.
